Park Ji-hyun "Depression Gallery is an Online Crime Scene... Must Be Shut Down"
The extreme choice of a teenage youth who used the internet community 'Depression Gallery' has caused shock, and former Democratic Party Emergency Committee Chairperson Park Ji-hyun raised her voice, saying that the Depression Gallery should be shut down.
On the 8th, former Chairperson Park posted on her social networking service (SNS) under the title "Police lines must be set up even at online crime scenes," stating, "Despite the increasing blind spots in our society such as exploitation of minors, drugs, and involvement in crimes based on online communities, appropriate measures are still not being taken."
She said, "When a serious crime occurs in the offline reality, that place immediately becomes a 'crime scene' and police lines are installed. However, even when crimes occur online, no measures are taken at the scene," and pointed out, "Because it is 'online,' even when deaths occur, it is no different from the state neglecting the safety of its citizens, which it should rightfully protect."
Former Chairperson Park emphasized the need for closure, saying, "The DC Inside gallery, which includes the Depression Gallery, has been a hotbed of all kinds of crimes besides this Depression Gallery incident. Links to the 'Nth Room' have been posted, and personal information of digital sex crime victims has also been uploaded," adding, "However, at that time, DC Inside did not take appropriate measures."
