Gwangju Dong-gu Council, Special Lecture on Democratization Movement and Visit to Democracy Cemetery
The Dong-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 8th that it conducted a special lecture on the May 18 Democratic Movement and paid respects at the National Cemetery for Democracy.
To commemorate the 43rd anniversary of the democratization movement, the Dong-gu Council organized this event to remember the spirit of May, including sharing, resistance, and solidarity, without forgetting the sacrifice of the May martyrs.
They invited Park Jin-woo, an instructor from the May School of the May 18 Memorial Foundation, to give a lecture titled "The May 18 We See."
Afterwards, the event proceeded with a wreath-laying and incense offering to pray for the rest and blessings of the democratic martyrs, followed by a visit to the democratic cemetery.
No Jin-seong, a district council member, added, "As one of the young people living in this era, while looking around every corner of the democratic cemetery, I will not only be grateful to the May 18 martyrs but also never forget the cries of that day and the spirit of Gwangju."
