Jangseong-gun Increases Newborn Childcare Support Fund... Up to 10 Million Won Provided
Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do is significantly increasing the newborn childcare support fund.
The county recently announced on the 3rd that it will expand the payment of newborn childcare support funds following the revision of the ‘Jangseong-gun Ordinance on Birth and Childcare Support.’
For children born on or after January 1, 2023, the first child will receive support increased from 1.2 million KRW to 4 million KRW, the second child from 2.5 million KRW to 6 million KRW, and the third child from 4.2 million KRW to 8 million KRW.
From the fourth child onward, 10 million KRW can be received.
At the time of birth registration, 2 million KRW is paid as a lump sum, and the remaining amount is received quarterly over 1 to 4 years depending on the birth order.
The increased amount will be applied retroactively to the 39 newborns born this year before the ordinance revision. A lump sum of 2 million KRW and the remaining difference will be paid to the guardians of the newborns in early May.
Health management support for mothers and newborns, targeting all childbirth families, will be provided differentially from 410,000 KRW to 5.44 million KRW depending on income and birth order.
Starting in the second half of the year, the ‘Early Life Health Management Project’ will also be implemented, where professional nurses visit childbirth families to provide free customized health management services.
The First Meeting Voucher worth 2 million KRW will be provided as points on the National Happiness Card, and childbirth congratulatory goods worth about 230,000 KRW will also be supported. Families with three or more children can additionally receive 500,000 KRW for purchasing childcare products for large families.
The county is promoting various projects to improve the health of mothers and newborns, including health checkups for newlyweds (including prospective couples), free visiting obstetrics and gynecology checkups, infertility treatment costs, medical expenses for high-risk pregnant women, medical expenses for teenage mothers’ pregnancy and childbirth, pregnant women registration management and health classes, and health checkups for infants and young children.
County Governor Kim Han-jong said, “Support for pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare is a very important project that fills the county’s future with hope,” and added, “We will do our best to create an environment that is good for having and raising children.”
