Promotion of Safety Inspection for Cantilever-Type Bridges
Park Dong-sik, Mayor of Sacheon City, Gyeongnam Province, recently conducted a safety inspection of Yonghyeon Bridge, a cantilever-type bridge located in Yonghyeon-myeon, where a collapse accident occurred in Bundang Jeongja Bridge.
This inspection was carried out as part of the '2023 Intensive Safety Inspection,' conducted over 61 days from April 17 to June 16, to check the safety of cantilever-type bridges.

In particular, minor issues found during the safety inspection were immediately corrected on-site, and facilities requiring repair or reinforcement were ordered to be promptly improved through budget allocation by the relevant departments.
The city plans to conduct joint inspections of 100 vulnerable facilities this year, including public facilities closely related to citizens' daily lives and cantilever bridges, and systematically manage the results.

Mayor Park stated, “Through intensive safety inspections, we will elevate the region’s safety level to the next stage,” and added, “We also ask all citizens to conduct voluntary safety inspections and actively report any safety hazards around their daily lives.”
