LS Cable & System Completes Asia's Largest Ultra High Voltage Direct Current Submarine Cable Factory
Completion Ceremony of Underwater Building 4 at Gangwon Donghae Site on the 2nd
"Strengthening Underwater Business Capabilities through Factory Expansion and KT Submarine Acquisition"
LS Cable & System announced on the 2nd that it has completed the construction of Haeseo 4-dong in Donghae City, Gangwon Province. This is the only domestic and Asia's largest factory dedicated to ultra-high voltage direct current (HVDC) submarine cables.

Approximately 190 billion KRW was invested in the factory, which began construction in July 2021. The total floor area is 34,816㎡ (about 10,532 pyeong), including a 172m tall ultra-high-rise production tower (VCV Tower).
The company stated, "We are currently promoting trillion-won scale HVDC projects mainly in Europe due to carbon neutrality policies," adding, "We have been preparing to expand our business through proactive investments such as factory expansion and the acquisition of KT Submarine."

So far, about 700 billion KRW has been invested to strengthen its submarine business capabilities. Recently, by acquiring shares in KT Submarine, the company is expanding not only cable supply but also construction projects.
LS Cable & System CEO Koo Bon-gyu said, "The completion of this HVDC specialized factory will act as an accelerator for growth during the energy transition era and the rising trend of the power industry," adding, "We will contribute to the development of the power industry and the enhancement of national competitiveness through the establishment of an efficient energy network."
