Gyeongbuk Provincial Councilor Hwang Myeong-gang Proposes Ordinance to Support Infants with Developmental Delays
Hwang Myeong-gang, a member of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council (People Power Party, proportional representation), proposed the "Gyeongsangbuk-do Infant Development Support Ordinance" on the 1st to enable early diagnosis and systematic support for infants and toddlers with developmental delays.
This ordinance comes at a time when the proportion of infants and toddlers who have been judged to require a "recommendation for in-depth evaluation" due to suspected developmental delays in recent infant development evaluation health checkups is continuously increasing, necessitating systematic support. It aims to support infants and toddlers to develop normally by diagnosing and intervening early in developmental delays to prevent disabilities.
The main contents of the ordinance include the establishment of an infant development support plan, support projects for early diagnosis and intervention of developmental delays in infants and toddlers, education and training for childcare staff, and the establishment of a cooperative system with related institutions and organizations.
Assemblyman Hwang said, "Early detection of developmental delays in infants and toddlers is of utmost importance," and expressed expectations that the enactment of this ordinance will contribute to the healthy growth of infants and toddlers in the province as social members through various supports such as strengthening the capacity education of childcare staff who care for infants and toddlers most closely, distributing developmental delay manuals, and providing education, counseling, and home visit support for infants and toddlers with developmental delays and their families.
