Overseas pharmaceutical experts are specialists who provide field-tailored consulting and education in areas such as research and development (R&D) planning, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), clinical trials, regulatory approval, marketing, and project management (PM) to domestic companies as part of the "Invitation and Utilization of Overseas Pharmaceutical Experts" project.
The institute has been conducting this project since 2013 to strengthen the new drug development and global expansion capabilities of domestic pharmaceutical companies. Through consulting by overseas pharmaceutical experts, it has achieved results including 52 export contracts, 5 new drug developments, 8 regulatory approvals/GMP, 2 technology transfers, and 1 joint venture (JV) establishment to date.
Currently, the experts stationed at the institute are specialists in business development for emerging pharmaceutical markets such as the Middle East and Latin America. Through this recruitment, the institute plans to additionally secure experts in advanced pharmaceutical markets such as the United States and Europe to support domestic companies in expanding their export regions. Any expert with more than 10 years of experience in multinational pharmaceutical companies or pharmaceutical regulatory agencies can apply as an overseas pharmaceutical expert. Recruitment is ongoing in fields such as R&D planning, clinical trials, GMP, regulatory affairs (RA), and technical marketing.
The selected experts will provide information and know-how in their main areas of expertise from candidate substance identification, preclinical stages, regulatory approval regulations and acquisition strategies, to partner discovery and connection, covering the entire process from drug development to commercialization for pharmaceutical, bio, and venture companies, and will be responsible for practical consulting.
Kim Yong-woo, head of the Pharmaceutical and Bio Industry Division at the institute, said, "Pharmaceuticals are recognized as a promising export industry in the bio-health sector, and continuous support from global experts with knowledge and know-how in the pharmaceutical field is necessary to expand overseas sales channels for domestic companies. We look forward to the active participation of experts with extensive experience in the pharmaceutical field."
