Kim Byung-min "Shin Pyeong 'Cho Kuk Presidential Candidate'? No Possibility"
"Excessive Media Attention on Sinpyeong's Remarks"
Kim Byung-min, a Supreme Council Member of the People Power Party, drew a line regarding lawyer Shin Pyeong, who is called "President Yoon Seok-yeol's mentor," predicting the possibility of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk emerging as a presidential candidate, saying, "Personally, I do not think there is a possibility that former Minister Cho Kuk will become a presidential candidate."
On the 25th, Kim, on KBS's "Choi Kyung-young's Strongest Current Affairs," stated, "I don't think the media needs to pay too much attention to lawyer Shin's remarks."
Lawyer Shin had predicted on his social media the day before that if former Minister Cho runs in next year's general election, he will emerge as a political leader of the opposition and a rival to President Yoon Seok-yeol.
However, Kim said, "(Lawyer Shin) has never actually been involved in politics," adding, "I think he can write various articles with insights into society as a legal professional, but personally, I do not think there is a possibility that former Minister Cho will become a presidential candidate."
He further added, "If former Minister Cho runs in next year's general election as a major core axis of the Democratic Party, I think it would be difficult for the Democratic Party to readily agree to that."
Regarding Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo's social media post, Kim said, "Mayor Hong said he would stop using social media, but shortly after, he posted again," adding, "It is a message that is hard to be easily accepted by supporters of the People Power Party or the public." The mayor had hinted at the possibility of a 'third zone' by criticizing on social media the day before, saying, "Song Young-gil, who voluntarily left the party and is undergoing prosecution because he harms the party; Lee Jae-myung, who stays in his position no matter if he harms the party; and the ruling party leadership, who are stuck in the Jeon Kwang-hoon swamp, caring only about themselves regardless of what happens to the party."
In response, Kim said, "Of course, as a senior figure in Korean politics, he can say many things, but the money envelope incident is a serious case that led the Democratic Party to take down its signboard, and the Daejang-dong suspicion involving Representative Lee Jae-myung is an indescribably serious situation," adding, "Suddenly, he brought up Jeon Kwang-hoon along with these two cases," rebutting that the gravity of the incidents is different.

Regarding Supreme Council Member Tae Young-ho's remark at the Supreme Council meeting the day before that "he did not beg for help in the wrong place," Kim said, "The general remarks at the Supreme Council meeting are not a place to talk about my personal matters," adding, "Since personal matters were brought up in the general remarks, I think that itself is somewhat inappropriate."
