Samjin Eomuk Develops Korea's First Fish Protein Powder 'Blue Meat Powder'
Samjin Fish Cake, a local Busan fish cake brand celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, has developed Korea's first fish meat protein powder made from fish flesh, called 'Bluemeat Powder.'
Bluemeat Powder is a seafood processed protein that can replace meat protein, manufactured in powder form and can be used with the same cooking methods as flour. By adding water to the powder and completing the fish meat dough, various dishes such as fish cake hot bars and fish cake pancakes can be made.
According to last year's analysis of seafood consumption trends by the Korea Maritime Institute (KMI) Fisheries Industry Observation Center, 78% of respondents considered seafood a high-protein food.
Additionally, 82% of respondents expressed willingness to increase seafood consumption for protein intake, indicating that demand for processed seafood protein is expected to rise further.
Over the past five years, Samjin Fish Cake has researched and developed new types of products using seafood protein, the basis of fish cakes, and as a result, devised a fish meat protein powder that retains the nutrition of fish protein.
Samjin Fish Cake's Bluemeat Powder is portable and easy to cook, making it suitable for outdoor activities.
Targeting the season when outdoor activities become active, Samjin Fish Cake plans to sell the 'Banhap' goods, co-designed with Helinox, together with Bluemeat Powder. These two products will be available in a limited quantity of 100 units on Samjin Fish Cake's official online mall.

View original imageOutdoor brand Helinox recently opened a flagship store, 'Helinox Creative Center' (Busan HCC), on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae-gu, Busan, and is holding the 'HCC Busan Community Day' event for about 10 days until the 30th.
'HCC Busan Community Day' is an event by HCC Busan collaborating with local brands that have continued Busan's unique regional characteristics and culture. It will showcase Helinox collaboration products and goods from four companies, including Samjin Fish Cake's Banhap, Ballansa, Daesun Brewery, and Songwol Towel.
During the 'HCC Busan Community Day,' visitors can also experience products featuring artwork by artists Helldogue and Mister Lee, who captured witty perspectives in the goods' artwork.
Especially in the basement first-floor exhibition space, visitors can appreciate works by Helldogue that concisely represent each local brand and the HCC Busan Community Day, as well as pieces by Mister Lee depicting Busan's symbols using old-school tattoo techniques.

Samjin Fish Cake is making strides toward the 'globalization of fish cakes,' ranking among the top 10 popular Korean foods in the United States based on the online sales platform Amazon. In March, it was selected as the number one brand in the seafood processed food category for three consecutive years in the 25th Korea Brand Power Index (K-BPI) survey.
