Emart Launches Plastic Reduction Campaign for Earth Day
Collected and Recycled 2 Tons of Waste Plastic Last Year
Emart announced on the 21st that it will showcase various Earth guardian activities in celebration of Earth Day.
Emart held a signing ceremony for the plastic reduction campaign "Gapuljiu (Take Plastic, Protect Our Sea)." Emart and its partners plan to carry out eco-friendly campaign activities in four areas: plastic collection, collaboration and promotion with partner brands, expansion of coastal cleanup activities, and strengthening environmental education. The campaign started in 2018 with three partners and has expanded to 18 partners this year. Last year alone, about 2 tons of waste plastic were collected and recycled, and approximately 6 tons of trash were collected through coastal cleanup activities at 19 locations nationwide.
Emart is running a promotion with the Ministry of Environment and the Korea Environment Corporation until the 27th, doubling the carbon neutrality points earned. Carbon neutrality points are an incentive system that supports customers based on their usage of companies' eco-friendly activities to promote a culture of carbon-neutral living among the public. The accumulated points can be checked on the carbon neutrality points website and can be redeemed monthly as cash or credit card points.
Until the 26th, Emart is also offering a discount event on eco-friendly agricultural products in collaboration with the Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Management Committee. Twenty items, including eco-friendly cherry tomatoes, low-carbon Seongju melons, eco-friendly cabbage, and organic shiitake mushrooms, will be sold at a discount of up to 2,000 KRW when Shinsegae points are accumulated.
