Changwon Special City, First Local Government to Collaborate with German Industry Institution
Agreement Signed with German Ministry of Economy Affiliate LNI4.0
Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 20th that it has started cooperation with LNI 4.0 (Labs Networks Industrie 4.0), a key policy and operational institution that practically leads Germany's Industry 4.0 policy, at the Hannover Industrial Fair.
On April 19 local time, Changwon City became the first local government to sign a memorandum of understanding with LNI 4.0, a German government-affiliated organization, at the Hannover Messe Convention Hall, enabling it to benchmark Germany's Fourth Industrial Revolution and lay the foundation for technological innovation in Changwon's manufacturing industry.

At the signing ceremony, Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon, Thomas Hahn, Chairman of LNI 4.0 (a network for digital research and testing institutions) and CEO of Siemens, Anja Simon, Chief Technology Officer, Dominik, Head of Technology Management, Jens Geico, CEO of SCI4.0 (technology standardization and international/domestic standard coordination cooperation), Henning Vantin, CEO of PI4.0 (Industry 4.0 issue policy response and industry-academia-research cooperation organization), and a director from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWK) attended. In total, 10 experts from four institutions that practically lead Industry 4.0 policies and key figures driving the German economy were present. Four others, including Professor Hong Seungho from Hanyang University and Professor Yoo Namhyun from Gyeongnam National University, who are active in the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Group under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, also participated.
The city plans to lead the digital transformation of the Changwon National Industrial Complex by benchmarking Germany's industrial standard system and successful cases of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, establishing a data utilization system, and cooperating on the development of international standards.
Following this agreement, five representatives from Germany's core Industry 4.0 institutions will visit Changwon in May to tour LG Smart Park, a global lighthouse factory (WEF), and discuss key detailed projects again.
