Seeking Key Figures for K-Tourism Revival: Ministry of Culture Recommends Candidates for Tourism Promotion Awards
Reward Candidate Nominations Accepted Until May 4
On the 19th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that it is accepting candidate recommendations for awards recognizing contributors to the development of the tourism industry in celebration of this year's '50th Tourism Day.'

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will select 104 recipients of tourism promotion awards to comfort the tourism industry, which has suffered severe stagnation due to COVID-19, and to encourage industry workers striving to restore and expand the tourism ecosystem.
The evaluation will target workers in the tourism industry, academia, and related organizations who have contributed to △ the convergence of K-Tourism and K-Culture △ the discovery of attractive tourism content △ the realization of convenient and comfortable K-Tourism △ and the promotion of 2023 as the inaugural year of a tourism powerhouse. Selected individuals will receive government awards such as industrial medals, orders of merit, presidential citations, and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism citations.
Candidate recommendations will be accepted through various channels including the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, tourism associations, and the Korea Tourism Organization until the 4th of next month. Detailed information on award criteria and submission methods for recommendation letters can be found on the websites of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism or the Korea Tourism Association Central Council.
The awards ceremony for contributors will be held at the '50th Tourism Day Commemoration Ceremony' on September 22.

Park Jong-taek, Director of Tourism Policy at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, "We hope this award will be an opportunity to raise the pride of our tourism industry, which has wisely overcome COVID-19 with a spirit of solidarity," and added, "We ask that many people be recommended so that the contributions of industry workers who have worked hard for the revival of K-Tourism can be recognized."
