Jin Ok-dong, Shinhan Financial Group Chairman, Embarks on First Overseas IR in Japan Since Inauguration
Meeting with Japanese Institutional Investors and Discussing Cooperation Plans with Major Financial Firms
Jin Ok-dong, Chairman of Shinhan Financial Group, will visit Japan on the 19th to hold his first overseas investor relations (IR) event since taking office.
According to Shinhan Financial, Chairman Jin will visit Japan for a three-day schedule starting on that day. He is known as a "Japan expert" having served as the president of Japan's SBJ Bank.
During this visit, Chairman Jin plans to meet with investors to attract and expand investments from Japanese institutional investors in Shinhan Financial and the Korean capital market.
He will also visit the Financial Services Agency of Japan to discuss support measures for SBJ, Shinhan Bank's local subsidiary, and plans to support Korean startups entering Japan and foster Japanese startups through Shinhan Financial's startup incubation platform, "Shinhan Futures Lab Japan."
Additionally, Chairman Jin will explore cooperation with Japanese financial institutions such as Mizuho, SMBC, the Bank of Japan (BOJ), Nomura Securities, and Daiwa Securities in various areas including global, digital, and ESG initiatives. He will also seek ways to revitalize private sector exchanges by supporting export-import companies for the normalization of trade between the two countries.

Chairman Jin stated, "If various exchanges in the private sector resume, the relationship between Korea and Japan can recover at a much faster pace," adding, "Shinhan Financial will serve as a cornerstone to activate exchanges in the private sector such as investment and trade so that both countries can coexist and prosper together."
