Following Jeong Yoon-jung, Yoon Nam-hee also faces 'defamation controversy'... 'Indefinite suspension from appearances'
KCSC Advertising Subcommittee Issues 'Warning' for Broadcast
Industry Deliberates on Follow-up Measures to Prevent Recurrence
CJ OnStyle has decided to indefinitely suspend show host Yoon Nan-hee for making remarks that recalled a deceased celebrity during a cosmetics sales broadcast. CJ OnStyle, which aired Yoon's comments, is expected to face legal sanctions from the Korea Communications Standards Commission (KCSC).
According to industry sources on the 18th, CJ OnStyle announced that it has decided to impose an "indefinite suspension" on Yoon Nan-hee, who caused controversy by mentioning a female comedian who suffered from a skin disease during her lifetime while on air.
A CJ OnStyle official stated, "We view the current situation very seriously, and there is a consensus internally that stricter broadcasting ethics must be applied."

The Advertising Review Subcommittee of the KCSC also decided on the same day to issue a "caution" regarding CJ OnStyle's "Dr. Jukur Ampoule."
The KCSC's decisions are categorized as "No Problem," administrative guidance stages such as "Suggestion" and "Recommendation," and legal sanctions including "Caution," "Warning," "Program Correction/Modification/Suspension," "Disciplinary Action against Related Personnel," and "Fines." Legal sanctions can result in point deductions during broadcaster license renewals or approvals.
While the final disciplinary action is decided in a plenary meeting, most decisions made by the subcommittee have been reflected without change in higher-level meetings, and the subcommittee's decision on this day is expected to be confirmed without dissent.
During the review, Commissioner Kim Woo-seok said, "If legal sanctions are imposed, there could be secondary harm to the deceased due to repeated mentions, so I will propose a 'recommendation' opinion."
However, Commissioner Kim Yoo-jin pointed out, "Strict sanctions on such remarks would help prevent similar cases. Disclosing a celebrity's illness to sell products or misleading viewers about treatment effects when there are none must be eradicated."
Repeated Controversies over Show Hosts' Inappropriate Remarks... Industry Commits to 'Strict Recurrence Prevention Measures'
Earlier, on February 4th, Yoon Nan-hee sparked public criticism by saying during a broadcast selling cosmetics, "I thought of a female comedian. She had a lot of worries because of bad skin; I wish she had known about this." Although Yoon did not mention the name directly, it was widely interpreted as referring to a specific deceased individual, leading to accusations of inappropriate product promotion.
Additionally, complaints were raised because the product being sold was a general cosmetic without verified skin disease treatment effects, yet a subtitle stating "Any skin can change" was displayed.
Meanwhile, the broadcast of Hyundai Home Shopping's "Carol Frank Luxury Cream" on January 28, in which show host Jung Yoon-jung used profanity on air, is also pending a full meeting decision after the Advertising Review Subcommittee voted for disciplinary action against related personnel and a "warning."
At that time, Jung was criticized for swearing because the cosmetics she was selling sold out early, but the broadcast could not end early due to the scheduled time.
In response to these controversies, the industry appears to be making efforts to implement follow-up measures such as recurrence prevention plans.
Hyundai Home Shopping is devising measures including strengthening broadcasting review-related education for all participants, including show hosts and guests.
