Yongin City Strengthens Crackdown on Wastewater Discharge Companies
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province is strengthening the management of wastewater and sewage discharged from business sites to preserve the water quality of local rivers.
On the 18th, Yongin City announced that it has formed a task force (TF) to establish a continuous management and inspection system, organized inspection teams, and will expand river patrol activities together with environmental monitors.
In particular, the city plans to conduct unannounced inspections of discharge business sites according to the "Integrated Guidance and Inspection Regulations on Facilities Discharging Environmental Pollutants," and apply administrative measures in accordance with regulations to the businesses found violating the rules.
Previously, the city imposed a fine of 400 million KRW and filed charges against companies located in Cheoin-gu that operated wastewater discharge and prevention facilities improperly and exceeded discharge standards, in accordance with the "Water Environment Conservation Act."
To strengthen supervision, the city plans to conduct integrated guidance, inspections, and effluent water quality tests on 659 discharge facilities in the region. Additionally, it will carry out pesticide residue investigations at local golf courses.
