Fair Trade Commission to Approve Hanwha-Daewoo Shipbuilding Merger This Month
The Fair Trade Commission is expected to review Hanwha's corporate merger proposal to acquire Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering as early as this month.
According to the Fair Trade Commission on the 16th, once the examiner submits a review report containing opinions on the approval of the corporate merger and the imposition of corrective measures, a plenary meeting will be held as soon as possible to review the agenda.
If Hanwha has no significant objections to the examiner's opinions, the plenary meeting could be held within this month.
Industry insiders believe that the Fair Trade Commission is likely to approve the corporate merger on the condition that Hanwha does not discriminate in pricing or information of naval ship parts to competitors of Daewoo Shipbuilding.
