Low Approval Rating for Prime Minister Prayut
The youngest daughter of former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who is running as a candidate for prime minister from the opposition party, has been ranked first in public opinion polls.
According to local media on the 16th, the support rate for the main opposition party, Pheu Thai Party, was recorded at 38.89%. Following that, the progressive Move Forward Party (MFP), which receives support from the younger generation due to its reformist policies, garnered 32.27%, and the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party (RTSC), affiliated with Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, accounted for 12.84%.

In terms of next prime minister support, Move Forward Party leader Pita Limjaroenrat had the highest at 29.42%. Pheu Thai Party candidate Paetongtarn Shinawatra was second with 23.23%, and Prime Minister Prayut ranked fourth with 13.72%. The combined support rate for Pheu Thai Party candidates reaches about 40%.

It is expected to be difficult for the Pheu Thai Party to achieve an overwhelming victory to become the sole ruling party. In a previous poll, the Pheu Thai Party was predicted to secure 160 out of the total 500 seats in the lower house, with a maximum of 185 seats and a minimum of 135 seats.
