Suncheon-si to Host 'Singsing Pocha Bom-ui Mihyang' Festival

Seasonal Food Festival Featuring Jjukkumi, Kijogae, Dodari, and Sora

Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced that it will hold the event for two weeks starting from the 14th as part of the station area urban regeneration project.

This festival will operate on Fridays and Saturdays from 4:30 PM to 9:30 PM and will be held at the Third Parking Lot of Yeokjeon Market (19 Pungdeokjutaek-gil, Suncheon-si, Jeollanam-do).

Singsing Pocha is a festival that takes advantage of Yeokjeon Market, the largest gathering place for seafood in the eastern region of Jeollanam-do, where fresh ingredients can be purchased at the lowest prices. It has been held since 2019 and, after refining its business model, is now in its fourth year as a representative local seafood festival.

The menu includes ▲‘Yeokjeon Set,’ a well-rounded selection of land, sea, and air ingredients such as pork belly, chicken leg meat, and fresh seafood ▲‘Singsing Set,’ composed of fresh seafood from Yeokjeon Market ▲and ‘Dokkaebi Set’ for children, consisting of garaetteok (rice cake), sausages, marshmallows, and more, allowing visitors to enjoy a variety of seasonal delicacies such as webfoot octopus, clams, pen shells, flounder, and conch from Suncheon.

In particular, this festival’s menu selection and experience events were directly planned by the Station Area Residents’ Council and the Yeokjeon Market Merchants’ Association.

Various experiences are prepared, including ▲‘Our Family Charcoal Grill Chef,’ where the whole family can experience lighting charcoal and grilling snacks themselves ▲‘Singsing Pocha Concert,’ a pocha music concert with local musicians ▲and ‘I Am a Singer,’ where anyone can showcase their singing skills through prior registration.

Additionally, a safety management plan has been established in connection with local emergency facilities, and a hotline has been set up so that the Station Area Residents’ Council, Yeokjeon Market Merchants’ Association, and Station Area On-site Support Center can respond immediately in case of emergencies, ensuring thorough preparedness to welcome guests.

A Singsing Pocha operations official said, “Based on many years of experience operating Singsing Pocha, we are preparing so that many people can enjoy it. Since the event involves charcoal grilling and seafood, we are putting great effort into hygiene and safety to run a festival that everyone can enjoy,” and added, “We ask for the promotion and participation of many residents for the continuous hosting of this festival prepared together by Yeokjeon Market and the residents.”
