Jeon Gwang-hoon "Politicians Must Be Under My Control"
"Support of 200 Seats by People Power Party is the Goal of Korean Churches"
Pastor Jeon Gwang-hoon of Sarang Jeil Church claimed that "politicians must be controlled by religious leaders."
On the morning of the 10th, Pastor Jeon held a press conference at Sarang Jeil Church in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, stating, "Politicians definitely need to be monitored by religious leaders. Without the supervision of religious leaders, (politicians) cannot self-regulate," and emphasized, "(Politicians) must be controlled by religious leaders like in the United States."
Pastor Jeon said, "They must be controlled by Pastor Jeon Gwang-hoon," adding, "The goal of the Korean church is to support 200 seats for the People Power Party in the next general election."
He also refuted the claim made by Hwang Kyo-ahn, former leader of the United Future Party (the predecessor of the People Power Party), who said that Pastor Jeon demanded excessive nominations during the last general election. Pastor Jeon raised his voice, saying that he was in prison during the 2020 general election and challenged, "If there is any evidence such as recordings, phone calls, or documents proving that I demanded nominations, bring it forward."
He continued, "I only asked for one promise: 'Please consult with me three days before appointing the nomination committee chairman.' However, instead of appointing Kim Moon-soo (Chairman of the Economic, Social and Labor Council), who was number one in public opinion polls at the time, they made the mistake of appointing Kim Hyung-o (former Speaker of the National Assembly), and that is why South Korea is in this state."

Even if Kim Jae-won, a Supreme Council member of the People Power Party, made a slip of the tongue at our church, if he is from the same party, he should be embraced. Why are members of the same party fighting? How can we achieve 200 seats like this?" Mayor Hong had previously demanded the expulsion of Kim, who was criticized for so-called 'praising Jeon Gwang-hoon.'
Pastor Jeon also targeted the Democratic Party of Korea, saying, "Stop the pro-communist faction politics," and continued with strong remarks, "I consider Representative Lee Jae-myung to be at the level of a spy."

Meanwhile, the People Power Party distanced itself from Pastor Jeon. On the morning of the same day, Supreme Council member Jang Ye-chan said, "The People Power Party is not a party influenced by figures like Pastor Jeon who make extreme remarks that do not meet the public’s expectations," and warned strongly, "We will no longer tolerate distorted statements that suggest the People Power Party is influenced by him."
