Kim Joo-hyung, who made his debut at this year's first major tournament, the Masters, said on the 10th, "I always wanted to play in the Masters that I used to watch on TV in the early morning, and now that I am here playing, I feel like I want to win." On the final day of the 87th Masters Tournament (total prize money $18 million) held at Augusta National Golf Club (par 72, 7,545 yards) in Augusta, Georgia, USA, he scored 2-under-par 70 with one eagle, four birdies, and four bogeys in the 4th round. His final total was 2-under-par 286, placing him in a tie for 16th.
Despite a relatively stable performance, including scoring under par in his debut, Kim Joo-hyung gave a harsh evaluation of his first Masters, saying, "It’s not even 10 points out of 100." He added, "You could say I finished well, but I was disappointed because I made many mistakes." Regarding the eagle on the 15th hole (par 5) that day, he explained, "I hit it with a hybrid, and from the moment I hit it, I had a good feeling that the ball would stick close to the hole."
Im Sung-jae, who was runner-up in this tournament in 2020, also tied for 16th place alongside Kim Joo-hyung. He scored even par in the 4th round with two birdies and two bogeys, finishing with a total of 2-under-par 286. He especially valued the fact that he played a short round with the "Golf Emperor" Tiger Woods (USA) in the 3rd round, saying, "I wondered when I would ever get to play with Woods, so I was very happy to have a round together." He added, "Watching him from the side, even when he made mistakes, he was cool, and the person himself was so cool that I just felt like a gallery member. I think I focused more to impress Woods, and my swing went well." Woods withdrew after completing seven holes early in the 3rd round due to foot pain.
