Lee Ye-won finished the final round of the 2023 season KLPGA Tour domestic opener, the Lotte Rent-a-Car Women’s Open (total prize money 800 million KRW), held on the 9th at Lotte Skyhill CC in Seogwipo, Jeju Island (par 72, 6,395 yards), with a one-stroke drop but secured a three-stroke victory (6-under 282). Making her debut on the KLPGA Tour last year, she reached the top for the first time in her 33rd tournament and earned a winner’s prize of 144 million KRW.

Starting with a six-stroke lead, Lee Ye-won recorded two birdies and three bogeys. After a birdie on the 4th hole (par 5), she lost it with a bogey on the 7th hole (par 4), then made bogeys on the 10th and 13th holes. She changed the momentum with a birdie on the 14th hole (par 3) and maintained pars on the remaining four holes to secure the win.
Lee Ye-won is a promising player who won last year’s Rookie of the Year award. In 29 tournaments last year, she advanced to the final round 26 times and finished in the top 10 thirteen times. She ranks 3rd in the prize money standings (849.78 million KRW). After three runner-up finishes and three third-place finishes that kept fans anxious, she finally achieved her first victory this time.

Park Ji-young, winner of the Hana Financial Group Singapore Women’s Open, and Jeon Ye-seong tied for 2nd place (3-under 285). Lee So-young and Ahn Sun-joo tied for 4th place (1-under 287), while Park Hyun-kyung and rookie Kim Min-byeol tied for 6th place (1-over 289). Lee Jeong-min, winner of the PLK Pacific Links Korea Championship, and the first foreign player Li Shiying (China) tied for 13th place (6-over 294), domestic No. 1 Park Min-ji tied for 26th place (10-over 298), and European contender Lin Maria Grant (Sweden) finished tied for 36th place (12-over 300) to close the tournament.
