Woods played alongside Viktor Hovland (Norway) and Xander Schauffele (USA). Woods had a shaky start with bogeys on holes 3, 5, and 7. After making his first birdie on the 8th hole (par 5), he showed resilience by making birdies on the 11th hole (par 4) and consecutive birdies on the 15th and 16th holes. However, it was disappointing that he lost a stroke on the final 18th hole (par 4).
Woods recorded a fairway hit rate of 64% and a green in regulation rate of 66.7%. His drive shots reached a maximum of 303 yards, with an average of 293 yards. He averaged 1.65 putts per hole. This is the second time Woods has finished the first day of the Masters at 2 over par, the first being in 2005. At that time, he made a remarkable comeback by reducing 14 strokes from the 2nd to the 4th rounds and won the tournament with a score of 12 under par 276. Last year, Woods advanced to the final round with a 1 over par 145 total after the second round and finished 47th with 13 over par 301.

After completing the round, Woods said, "I couldn't adapt to the green speed early in the game, and my iron shot accuracy was also off," adding, "My drive shots were not bad, but I lacked the process of getting the ball close to the hole." Woods expressed hope, saying, "I should have performed well today (when the weather was good). I hope my shot feel improves and sharpness increases tomorrow." Weather forecasts predict rain starting from the second round of this tournament.
