Dong-A University Selected for 4th Phase BK21 Project in 'Graduate School Innovation' Area
Dong-A University has been selected for the ‘Graduate School Innovation’ category of the 4th phase Brain Korea (BK) 21 project by the National Research Foundation of Korea.
Following the existing four project teams in the ‘Innovative Talent Cultivation Project’ category and two research teams in the ‘Future Talent Cultivation Project’ category, Dong-A University will additionally operate a project team in the ‘Graduate School Innovation’ category.
With this selection, Dong-A University will receive approximately 1.1 billion KRW in graduate school innovation support funds to promote graduate school innovation and structural reform aimed at becoming a world-class research-oriented university.
Park Sang-won, Dean of the Graduate School, stated, “Through the BK21 Graduate School Innovation project, we will strive to enhance research capabilities and develop into a graduate school that cultivates high-level local talent. We will work hard to improve our structure.” He added, “As a key private university in the southeastern region and the center of western Busan’s development, we will endeavor to play a central role in regional innovation.”
The 4th phase BK21 project, promoted by the National Research Foundation of Korea until 2027, aims to enhance research capabilities in core academic fields and nurture the next generation of scholars.
Since September 2020, Dong-A University has been operating the following under the 4th phase BK21 project: the Future Environment Bio-defense Convergence Project Team, the ICT Convergence Marine Smart City Disaster Prevention Human Resource Training Education and Research Project Team, the Southeastern Region Settlement-type Ultra-precision Chemical Materials Engineer Training Education and Research Team, and the Academic-Industrial-Research Network-based Degenerative Disease New Drug Development Talent Cultivation Project Team.
