Two Chartered Buses Urgently Deployed on Cheongna~Gangseo 7700 BRT Line
Chartered buses have been additionally deployed on the 7700 trunk express bus system (BRT) route between Cheongna, Incheon and Gangseo, Seoul.
Incheon City announced that starting from the 4th, two chartered buses will be added to the 7700 BRT route operating from Cheongna in Seo-gu, Incheon to Hwagok in Seoul during the morning rush hour, increasing the number of trips by 6 on weekdays.
Previously, from the 20th of last month, the city shortened the existing 7700 bus route from Cheongna to Gayang to the Cheongna-Hwagok route (round trip 47.6 km). With the route shortened, travel time was reduced, allowing the number of trips to increase by 20 on weekdays (from 84 to 104), and a seat reservation system was fully implemented.
However, after switching to the seat reservation system and analyzing operational conditions and complaints, it was found that passenger numbers increased due to new apartment move-ins in Seo-gu and Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, causing persistent congestion during the morning rush hour (7 a.m. to 8 a.m.).
Originally, the city planned to allocate supplementary budget in the first half of this year to deploy chartered buses, but to improve congestion, it decided to add two chartered buses during the morning rush hour starting from the 4th.
As a result, the Cheongna-Gangseo BRT’s daily trips will increase from 104 to 110, securing transportation capacity during the morning rush hour, and weekend trips will also increase from 60 to 78 per day, improving transportation convenience for weekend passengers.
The city plans to replace 10 of the 17 BRT vehicles that have reached their durability limit with electric buses in the second half of this year, and next year, increase the fleet by 2 vehicles (from 17 to 19) to enhance passenger convenience.
