Seongnam City Offers Up to 2 Million Won Support for Creating Parking Lots by Demolishing Home Fences
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province is implementing the 'Home Parking Lot Creation Support Project' as a solution to parking difficulties in the densely populated Sujeong and Jungwon areas of the old downtown.
On the 5th, Seongnam City announced that it will promote a parking lot creation project that provides subsidies of up to 2 million KRW, covering up to 90% of construction costs, when owners of detached or multi-family houses demolish their fences or gates to create parking spaces.
The parking lots created under this project must be maintained for at least five years, and if the fence is rebuilt or the space is converted to another use, the full construction cost must be reimbursed.

A city official emphasized, "Through this project, eight parking spaces have been created at six houses over the past three years," adding, "Compared to large-scale public parking lot construction, this is an economically efficient project that can alleviate parking difficulties in the old downtown with a very small budget."
