Promising Implant Company Dentis Invests 40.1 Billion KRW to Build Factory in Daegu
Mayor Hong Jun-pyo and CEO Shim Ki-bong Memorandum of Understanding
On the 30th, Daegu City signed an investment agreement MOU with Dentis Co., Ltd. (CEO Sim Ki-bong), one of the leading domestic implant companies, at the Sangeok Office of Daegu City Hall.
Established in 2005, Dentis Co., Ltd. is a specialized manufacturer of dental implant-based medical devices. They plan to invest 40.1 billion KRW by 2026 to build a third factory, including implant and surgical room medical device manufacturing facilities and a research institute, on a 14,761㎡ (4,465 pyeong) site near the second factory in the Medical R&D District of Daegu Innovation City.
Dentis currently shows rapid growth, recording a sales growth rate of over 30% for two consecutive years through high-quality products such as implants sold in more than 70 countries, surgical shadowless lamps certified as next-generation world-class products, and 3D printers.
The third factory of Dentis is scheduled to begin construction in May 2023, complete in January 2024, and start operation from February 2024 to respond to the rapidly increasing global order volume. The company plans to become a total medical device solution provider equipped with an annual implant production capacity of 10 million units and dental unit chair manufacturing facilities.
Daegu is the largest dental industry city outside the metropolitan area, where dental instruments and dental materials companies grow alongside implants within an ecosystem of related institutions, universities, and over 900 dental hospitals and clinics.
Since 2009, Daegu has continuously supported research and development and marketing of related companies to foster the local dental industry. To become a leading global digital dental industry city by 2030, it is establishing a full-cycle support system from securing and providing dental data to nurturing companies and pioneering sales channels.

Sim Ki-bong, CEO of Dentis, stated, “Daegu continuously fosters the dental industry and has a well-established production base and industry-academia cooperation ecosystem in the dental field.” He expressed his ambition, saying, “Along with investment in total dental solution development, including implants and dental unit chairs, we will expand our business not only in dentistry but also in the medical market through the development of surgical room medical devices, a new business area.”
