Emart24 Launches 'VAT Refund Service' for Foreign Tourists
Expecting Increased Sales at Franchise Stores
Emart24 announced on the 28th that it will resume the 'VAT Refund Service' for foreign tourists.
The immediate VAT refund service allows foreign visitors to pay for products at Emart24 stores at a price with VAT deducted by having the store staff scan the customer's passport when purchasing items. The payment amount must be between 30,000 KRW and less than 500,000 KRW. Additionally, Emart24 plans to convert to a post-tax refund store (duty-free shop) that issues receipts for VAT post-refund, responding to the increasing demand from foreign shoppers.
With the resumption of the VAT refund service, Emart24 expects not only to enhance shopping convenience for foreign tourists visiting the stores but also to help increase sales at franchise stores. Franchise stores wishing to introduce the VAT refund service need to obtain a Foreign Duty-Free Shop Designation Certificate, and the franchise headquarters will guide the necessary documents during the application process.
