Ulsan City Hosts 'Companion Plant' Gift Event at Taehwagang National Garden
One House, One Tree Planting Ecological City Project
Ulsan City is holding an event to give citizens a "companion plant" gift ahead of the 78th Arbor Day.
On the 25th, starting at 9:30 a.m., an event will take place at the Taehwagang National Garden Meeting Square, where "Ulsan Happiness Trees" and "indoor companion plant pots" will be distributed for free. At this event, 6,000 seedlings and 2,000 pots will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.
The seedlings include three types: persimmon trees, jujube trees, and cherry trees, with each person receiving one of each type (up to three trees). Indoor pots (such as palm, stucky, and rubber trees) will be distributed one per person for citizens who do not have space to plant trees outdoors.
Ulsan City holds this annual tree gift event to raise awareness of the importance of forests and encourage citizen participation in tree planting.
This year, the event's scope has been expanded to include distributing indoor companion plants to help heal citizens' spirits, which have been strained by COVID-19 and high inflation.
