President Yoon's Mention of 'Constitutional Responsibility' by Lee Jae-myung... "The People Will Judge"
President Yoon's Aggressive Summit in Japan
Opposition Demands Plenary Committee Meeting and Dismissal of Diplomatic Security Officials
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 20th regarding President Yoon Suk-yeol's summit in Japan, "I believe that the people, who are the owners of this country, will sufficiently judge (President Yoon's) incomprehensible actions through their actions."
After concluding the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Lee met with reporters and, when asked whether he would consider a lawsuit this time as he did when he defended against the Yomiuri Shimbun's false report on former President Lee Myung-bak's Dokdo remarks, he said, "The issue of the president's summit in Japan this time seems truly difficult for the people to accept," adding, "It is a part that makes the Republic of Korea, a self-reliant and independent nation, feel truly regrettable and shameful."
During the Supreme Council meeting that day, he also launched an offensive by mentioning the "constitutional responsibilities bestowed upon the president." Lee said, "There may be criticisms that the constitutional responsibility to protect the territory and the lives of the people has not been fulfilled," and added, "A government with a limited five-year term does not have the authority to arbitrarily deprive war crime victims of their rights and make decisions that cause permanent damage to national interests."

Regarding this, he also said, "The National Assembly must take strong measures to reveal the truth about the humiliating diplomacy toward Japan under the Yoon Suk-yeol administration."
Park Hong-geun, floor leader of the Democratic Party, also said at the same venue, "What is absurd is that immediately after the summit, Japanese media reports flooded in saying that 'the Dokdo issue was included, and demands were made for the faithful implementation of the comfort women agreement and the lifting of Fukushima seafood import restrictions,'" and criticized, "Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin and Kim Tae-hyo, the first deputy director of the National Security Office, appeared in the media as if by agreement, saying, 'It is not appropriate to speak specifically (Park Jin),' and 'We cannot disclose all summit conversations (Kim Tae-hyo),' hastily trying to cover it up."
