Strengthening Medical Cooperation with Middle Eastern Countries... Minister of Health and Welfare Cho Kyu-hong Meets Ambassadors in Korea
The Ministry of Health and Welfare held a meeting on the afternoon of the 10th at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, with ambassadors from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to promote health and medical cooperation in the Middle East region.
The meeting was attended by Cho Kyu-hong, Minister of Health and Welfare, Cha Soon-do, President of the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, as well as Abdulla Saif Al-Nuaimi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Zakaria Hamed Al Sadi, Ambassador of Oman, Sami M Al-Sadhan, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, Khalid Ibrahim Al-Hamar, Ambassador of Qatar, and Dayabi Farhan Al Rashidi, Ambassador of Kuwait.
During the meeting, the Korean government and the resident ambassadors discussed revising the memorandums of understanding on health and medical cooperation by country, training of medical personnel, overseas expansion of medical institutions, and government patient referral treatment, aiming to strengthen existing cooperative projects. In particular, the Ministry of Health and Welfare urged increased interest in Korean medical services from the Middle East and actively requested cooperation to explore opportunities to expand health and medical cooperation, including the deployment of medical personnel to the Middle East and collaboration in the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors.

Abdulla Saif Al-Nuaimi, UAE Ambassador, responded, "Today’s meeting was a meaningful occasion to confirm the blueprint for health and medical cooperation between Korea and the Middle East region, including the UAE," adding, "We look forward to frequent meetings and close cooperation through many opportunities in the future."
