Jeju-do Disabled Sports Association Holds 16th Anniversary Celebration Event
The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Disabled Sports Association (President Oh Young-hoon, Governor) announced on the 10th that it held a commemorative event on the 9th to celebrate its 16th anniversary.
On this day, the Jeju Disabled Sports Association held a commemorative ceremony at the Jeju Disabled Sports Center attended by about 150 people including Kim Hee-hyun, Deputy Governor for Political Affairs, provincial council members, guests, affiliated organization officials, coaches, and athletes. Following the ceremony, they held a wheelchair badminton demonstration match and a harmony sports competition, fostering unity and celebration.

Also, under the slogan "Inclusive Disabled Sports, Opening a Happy World Together," the association is striving to promote the province by enhancing the health of disabled people and encouraging healthy leisure activities through the activation of community sports and the nurturing of excellent athletes and coaches.
The provincial Disabled Sports Association was officially launched on March 9, 2007, through a board meeting following the inaugural general meeting, after the transfer of disabled sports from the Ministry of Health and Welfare to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism was decided in 2004, and the revision of the National Sports Promotion Act in May 2005.
At the commemorative ceremony, Kim Hee-hyun, Deputy Governor of Jeju Province, said in his congratulatory speech, "Since its launch in 2007, the provincial Disabled Sports Association has contributed to promoting Jeju at domestic and international competitions and to the healthy lives of disabled people through strengthening the capabilities of professional disabled athletes and operating various community sports programs."
