On the 10th at 4:30 PM, Busan City will sign a business agreement in the 7th-floor conference room of City Hall to create a safe and pleasant traffic environment in preparation for the on-site inspection by the International Bureau of Expositions (BIE).
This agreement was made with the shared understanding that the public and private sectors must work together to attract the 2030 Busan World Expo, and it was arranged at the active request and proposal of the transportation business associations.
Once the agreement is signed, the city will form and operate a ▲‘On-site Monitoring Team’ and a ▲‘Rapid Response Task Force’ together with the bus and taxi transportation business associations and the automobile inspection and maintenance business association to create a safe traffic environment.
A real-time ‘On-site Monitoring Team’ composed of about 27,000 bus and taxi drivers will be organized and operated.
The ‘On-site Monitoring Team’ will be responsible for immediately notifying Busan City (the Traffic Information Service Center’s Traffic Situation Room) whenever transportation workers discover traffic facilities requiring maintenance during operation. The city plans to promptly repair the issues reported by the ‘On-site Monitoring Team’ to prevent safety accidents.
Additionally, during the on-site inspection period, focusing on the inspection team’s travel routes, a ‘Rapid Response Task Force’ will be operated in collaboration with the automobile inspection and maintenance association, which consists of 360 maintenance companies, to support smooth vehicle flow and prevent secondary accidents through quick responses in case of emergencies such as traffic accidents or vehicle breakdowns.
The parties to the agreement will also work together to actively practice courteous service and maintain cleanliness of vehicles and related facilities.
The city will designate the on-site inspection period as ‘Expo Traffic Week’ and conduct a campaign to inform the inspection team about Busan as an advanced traffic city by promoting practices such as not honking horns and not speeding. The transportation business associations have agreed to actively participate in this campaign.
