The Corruption Investigation Office Publicly Recruits 2 Investigators... 1 Level 6 and 1 Level 7 Position

The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO, Chief Kim Jin-wook) has begun recruiting investigators.
On the 7th, the CIO announced that it will publicly recruit a total of two investigators: one Grade 6 investigator and one Grade 7 investigator, who will perform duties related to the investigation and inquiry of crimes committed by high-ranking officials.

According to the CIO Act, the authorized number of CIO investigators is 40, but as of now, there are 38 investigators, leaving two vacancies.
To apply for a CIO investigator position, candidates must meet certain qualifications (lawyer qualification) or experience (public official experience or practical experience) according to Article 10 of the CIO Act and Article 4 of the "Regulations on the Recruitment Examination for CIO Investigators." The term of office is six years, with the possibility of renewal. The mandatory retirement age is 60.
Article 10 (CIO Investigators) Paragraph 1 of the CIO Act stipulates that the Chief shall appoint CIO investigators from among ▲ persons holding lawyer qualifications, ▲ public officials of Grade 7 or higher who have engaged in investigation or inquiry duties, and ▲ persons with more than five years of practical experience in inquiry duties as prescribed by CIO regulations.
Article 2 (Inquiry Duties) of the "Regulations on Inquiry Duties as Qualification Requirements for CIO Investigators" enumerates the inquiry duties under Article 10 Paragraph 1 Items 2 and 3 of the Act, including ▲ inspection and inquiry duties related to financial institutions under the Financial Services Commission Act and the Capital Markets Act, ▲ investigation of violations under the Fair Trade Act, Franchise Business Act, Door-to-Door Sales Act, Standardized Contracts Act, Electronic Commerce Act, Installment Transactions Act, Subcontracting Act, and Labeling and Advertising Act, ▲ inquiry duties related to insured financial companies under the Depositor Protection Act (financial companies paying premiums to the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation such as banks, securities firms, insurance companies, and savings banks), ▲ audit duties under the Board of Audit and Inspection Act, ▲ tax inquiry duties under the Framework Act on National Taxes and the Framework Act on Local Taxes, ▲ customs inquiry duties under the Customs Act, ▲ inquiry duties related to human rights violations and discrimination under the National Human Rights Commission Act, and ▲ inquiry duties involving fact-finding that leads to criminal punishment or administrative sanctions under the Act on the Prevention of Corruption and the Establishment and Operation of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
Article 4 (Application Requirements) of the "Regulations on the Recruitment Examination for CIO Investigators" states that "the application requirements for CIO investigators under Article 10 of the CIO Act by rank are as specified in the attached table." The attached table specifies detailed application requirements according to the intended appointment ranks from Grade 4 to Grade 7.
For Grade 6 investigators, applicants must be ▲ holders of lawyer qualifications, or ▲ public officials of Grade 6 (or equivalent) or higher who have engaged in investigation or inquiry duties, or ▲ persons with more than seven years of practical experience in inquiry duties.
For Grade 7 investigators, applicants must be ▲ public officials of Grade 7 (or equivalent) or higher who have engaged in investigation or inquiry duties, or ▲ persons with more than seven years of practical experience in inquiry duties.
A CIO official stated, "CIO investigators perform duties as judicial police officers, investigating suspects, criminal facts, and evidence when they determine that there is probable cause regarding crimes involving high-ranking officials."
This recruitment will proceed in the order of announcement, application submission, document screening, and interview examination.

The announcement can be found on the CIO website and Nara Ilteo, and applications will be accepted online through a specialized application site for eight days from the 16th to the 23rd.
