New Confirmed Cases 12,284... 1,500 Increase from a Week Ago Due to School Attendance Impact (Update)
The number of new COVID-19 cases increased by about 1,500 compared to a week ago, influenced by school attendance and other factors.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced on the 7th at midnight that the number of new COVID-19 cases rose by 12,284, bringing the total to 30,581,499.
On this day, the number of new cases increased by 7,984 compared to the previous day (4,300), when testing decreased due to the weekend. It increased by 1,473 compared to a week ago on the 28th of last month (10,811), and by 414 compared to two weeks ago on the 21st of the same month (11,870). The health authorities had previously noted that the number of confirmed cases could temporarily increase due to the return to school for elementary, middle, and high school students on the 2nd.
Among the new confirmed cases, 19 were imported from overseas.
The number of critically ill patients hospitalized increased by 13 from the previous day to 158. The number of critically ill patients has remained in the 100s for 16 consecutive days.
