Ministry of the Interior and Safety: "Identify New Disaster Risks in Advance Using Big Data"
Establishment of a Related Center at the National Disaster Safety Research Institute
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 7th that it plans to proactively prepare for new types of disasters starting this month by establishing the 'New Disaster Risk Factor Discovery Center' at the National Disaster Safety Research Institute last month to identify new types of disasters in advance.
The Discovery Center will actively utilize big data collected from various media such as public reports, the press, and social networking services to identify new safety risk factors in daily life that have not occurred before.
First, to find risk factors, the center plans to meticulously search and analyze domestic media, specialized academic journals, and research materials using the ‘R-Scanner,’ a disaster and safety information search system developed by the National Disaster Safety Research Institute itself.
In addition, experts in the disaster safety field will directly discover in-depth risk factors by sector and organize risk factors that are likely to occur domestically in the future.
