Lee Jae-myung "Who Would Laugh at Text Bombs and Expulsion Requests?" Urges Strong Supporters to Exercise Restraint
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated on the 4th, "Please stop attacks or criticisms directed inward."
On the same day, Lee posted on Facebook a message titled "Creating lists, text bombings, requests for expulsion... Who benefits from this?" where he made these remarks.
Following the mass defection incident during the vote on the arrest warrant against him, attacks against the 'Bi-Myung (anti-Lee Jae-myung) faction' intensified, especially among hardline supporters, escalating internal strife. Lee appears to have urged restraint.
Lee said, "After the vote on the arrest warrant, lists targeting some of our party members have been created, and attacks such as text bombings are taking place," adding, "I am watching very seriously the situation where requests for expulsion are even emerging."
He continued, "Many of the lists circulating in the market are incorrect," and explained, "Even if 4 out of 5 did so, if you criticize all 5, how unfair would it be for the one? Who better than I knows the feeling of being falsely accused for something one did not do?"
Lee also pointed out, "Seeing lists that are effective for sowing discord and completely untrue being circulated, it seems highly likely that the creators and distributors are not our supporters."
He added, "The more intense the conflicts within us become, the weaker the momentum to check the regime that neglects people's livelihoods and focuses on obliterating the opposition becomes," urging again, "Please imagine who would be smiling the most at times like this."
