Large-scale rallies in downtown Seoul on the 28th and Samiljeol... Traffic congestion inevitable
Civil society organizations, including the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), will hold large-scale rallies and marches on the 28th and on March 1st, the anniversary of the March 1st Movement. Traffic congestion in downtown Seoul is expected to be unavoidable.

View original imageOn the 27th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that large-scale rallies and marches will take place around Gwanghwamun, Seoul Station, and Samgakji Station over the two days of the 28th and March 1st.
On the following afternoon, the KCTU plans to hold a rally along Sejong-daero and march from Gyeongbokgung Station, Seodaemun Station, Jonggak Station to the War Memorial of Korea in Yongsan. Approximately 46,000 union members nationwide are expected to gather for the rally. Some sections will be subject to traffic control, and severe vehicle congestion is inevitable as it coincides with rush hour.
On March 1st as well, tens of thousands are scheduled to attend a rally along Sejong-daero. To minimize inconvenience to citizens caused by traffic congestion, the police will deploy traffic officers around the rally and march routes. Additionally, variable lanes will be operated on Sejong-daero, and traffic management measures such as vehicle detours will be implemented at heavily congested intersections.

A police official said, "We ask citizens to use public transportation such as the subway as much as possible," and added, "If it is unavoidable to use a vehicle, please check traffic information in advance."
