Policy to Fully Mobilize Available Personnel and Equipment
The National Police Agency announced on the afternoon of the 24th that it held a situation briefing meeting on large-scale rallies in downtown areas, chaired by Commissioner Yoon Hee-geun, to discuss response measures.
According to the police, the Construction Workers' Union will hold a rally with about 46,500 union members nationwide participating on Sejong-daero, Seoul, starting at 2 p.m. on the 28th. At the meeting, the police stated that they will guarantee the reported rally and march by the Construction Workers' Union, but will strictly respond to illegal acts by mobilizing all available personnel and equipment. They decided to deploy more than 100 police units from across the country to Seoul on the day of the rally.
The police emphasized that if illegal acts such as occupying the road with vehicles during the rally and march cause inconvenience to citizens during weekday rush hours, dispersal procedures will be carried out. If there is obstruction of official duties during this process, on-site arrests will be made. Commissioner Yoon said, "We will deploy all police capabilities to eradicate behaviors that deny the rule of law by leveraging the power of groups."
