Ford, Daechang Motors, Yamaha and 3 Other Companies Recall 8 Vehicle Models
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Wanyong] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 23rd that a total of 28,643 vehicles across 8 models manufactured or imported by Ford Sales Service Korea, Daechang Motors, and Korea Motor Trading have been found to have manufacturing defects and will undergo voluntary recall.
First, 24,219 vehicles of 3 models including the Lincoln Aviator imported and sold by Ford Sales Service Korea were found to have an issue where the rearview camera screen does not display due to an Around View software error.
For 3 models including the Fusion totaling 3,107 vehicles, it was confirmed that excessive explosion pressure of the inflator during driver’s airbag deployment could cause metal fragments from internal parts to injure the driver, leading to a voluntary recall.
These vehicles can receive free repairs such as software updates and parts replacement at official Ford Sales Service Korea service centers starting from the 28th of this month.
Daechang Motors’ 443 units of the Danigo Van, manufactured and sold by the company, were found to have a battery management system error causing improper charging restrictions, which could lead to fire risk, and battery residual amount errors that may cause the vehicle to stop while driving, prompting a voluntary recall.
These vehicles can receive free software updates at official Daechang Motors service centers starting from March 3rd.
Korea Motor Trading’s 874 units of the Yamaha LTS125 motorcycle model, imported and sold by the company, were found to have missing external impact mitigation parts inside the fuel tank, causing cracks at the fuel tank welds during irregular road surface driving, which may lead to fuel leakage and fire risk, resulting in a voluntary recall.
These vehicles can receive free replacement with improved parts at official Korea Motor Trading service centers starting from March 3rd.
Regarding this defect correction, each manufacturer will notify vehicle owners of the correction methods via mail and mobile text messages. If a vehicle owner has repaired the defect at their own expense before the recall, they can apply for compensation of the repair costs from the manufacturer.
