The Open "Top 2 Players of Korea Open Assigned Tickets"
R&A Announces 50 Player Entries for 16 Tournaments
The top two players in the Korea Open will participate in The Open, the "oldest major."
The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews (R&A), which organizes The Open, announced the final schedule and number of participants for the Qualifying (Q) Series, which offers 50 spots for this year, on the 21st (local time). The Korean Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Korean Tour was allocated the same two spots as before. The top two players in the Kolon Korea Open, held this June at Woojeong Hills Country Club in Cheonan, Chungnam, will receive entry to The Open.
The Korea Open has offered entry to The Open since 2017. Last year, Min-kyu Kim and Min-kyu Cho participated in The Open for the first time. The 151st Open will be held over four days starting July 20 at Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake, Wirral, England.
The Japan Golf Tour Organization (JGTO) Mizuno Open offers four spots, the Asian Tour World City Championship offers four spots, and the PGA Tour has allocated nine spots through the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Wells Fargo Championship, and Memorial Tournament, sponsored by the Masters Tournament. The Sunshine Tour in South Africa, the Australian PGA Tour, and the DP World Tour (formerly the European Tour) also offer entry through regional qualifiers.
