Asiana to Increase Weekly Flights to 40 in March... "Expecting Normalization of International Routes"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Asiana Airlines announced on the 22nd that it will expand its international routes by increasing flights to 40 times a week on 12 routes starting in March.
Riding on the recovery of travel demand to Japan, Asiana Airlines will increase the frequency of the Incheon-Narita route from March 4, and the Incheon-Osaka and Gimpo-Haneda routes from March 10, from the current twice daily (14 times a week) to three times daily (21 times a week).
Additionally, the Okinawa route, which operated four times a week, will operate daily starting March 15. Furthermore, from April, Asiana plans to actively consider resuming regular flights to normalize Japan routes, including daily flights on the Incheon-Haneda route for the first time in about three years and operating the Sendai route three times a week.
Moreover, Asiana Airlines has worked to enhance customer convenience by expanding capacity on the Gimpo-Osaka route from small aircraft to medium-to-large aircraft to meet the increased passenger demand, with an average load factor approaching 90% in January.
Southeast Asian routes will also be diversified and increased. The Da Nang route will increase from four times a week to seven times a week starting March 10, and the Delhi route will increase from twice a week to three times a week starting March 26. From March 5, the Cebu route, which had been suspended since COVID-19, will resume operations four times a week.
Also, one of the popular routes, the Taipei route, will increase from 11 times a week to 14 times a week starting March 1, operating twice daily.
From March, European routes will gradually increase, with most routes returning to normal. The London route will increase from six times a week to daily flights, and the Rome route will increase from twice a week to four times a week. The Paris and Barcelona routes will each increase by one flight, to six and three times a week, respectively.
An Asiana Airlines official said, “Starting with this increase, we will continue efforts to gradually restore international flights through the summer peak season.”

Meanwhile, from May, the Seattle route will increase from four times a week to seven times a week, and the New York route, which previously operated once daily during the day, will add three nighttime flights per week, increasing to 10 flights weekly. The nighttime flights to New York mark the resumption of regular service since the suspension in March 2020. By operating both daytime and nighttime flights to New York, the largest city in the United States, Asiana aims to enhance customer schedule convenience.
