On the 8th, they made a surprise acquisition of Lim Hee-jeong, a player known for both skill and popularity on the KLPGA Tour. Lim Hee-jeong debuted on the KLPGA Tour in 2019 and has achieved five career wins, including two major championships as of last year. It is reported that Doosan Construction signed Lim Hee-jeong with the highest contract amount among KLPGA Tour players. In addition to Lim Hee-jeong, Doosan Construction plans to recruit more top-tier KLPGA Tour players to establish a golf team.
Doosan Construction was formerly a subsidiary of the Doosan Group. At the end of 2021, a consortium led by Q Capital Partners, a domestic private equity fund (PEF) management firm, acquired Doosan Construction. In March last year, Doosan Construction held the Doosan Construction·SBI Savings Bank Cup Golf Team Championship, an event on the KLPGA Tour.
The newly established tournament by Doosan Construction will take place at Teddy Valley Golf & Resort, an 18-hole members-only golf course that opened in September 2007. It is operated by a tourism and leisure company that owns the Teddy Bear Museum, a first-generation museum on Jeju Island. Located in the lush Gotjawal forest, it boasts outstanding natural scenery. It is about 30 km from Jeju Airport, offering good accessibility.
