Fair Trade Commission to Analyze Distribution Market System for Devices
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunju Lee] The Fair Trade Commission (FTC) is set to conduct a market analysis to promote competition in the mobile phone device distribution market. The commission plans to examine the device market, where the influence of the three major mobile carriers is strongly felt, and analyze the current market status.
According to industry sources on the 19th, the FTC has decided to analyze the regulatory status of the mobile phone device distribution market this year. The FTC has conducted market economic analyses annually to improve monopolistic market structures, and this year, it plans to focus on the mobile phone device distribution market.
Earlier, on the 15th, President Yoon Seok-yeol instructed at an emergency economic and livelihood meeting to devise measures to resolve the oligopoly in the telecommunications market and promote competition. Accordingly, the government is reportedly considering reviewing the overall fee structure while analyzing the device distribution market.
