ChatGPT Wrote It and AI Translated It... Self-Help Book Published in 7 Days
Artificial Intelligence (AI) ChatGPT Completes Writing in 30 Hours
AI Translation Takes 7 Days for Proofreading, Editing, and Printing
[Asia Economy Reporter Seo Mideum] A book written by the artificial intelligence (AI) ChatGPT will be published on the 22nd. The English original text was translated into Korean by a translation AI, and proofreading and editing were also handled by AI. Humans only performed the final review to check for any abnormalities. The work, which usually takes several months, was completed in just 7 days.
The book is titled "45 Ways to Find the Purpose of Life" (Snowfox Books). An AI was given a table of contents plan consisting of themes such as relationships, satisfaction, happiness, and sense of purpose, and generated about 3,000 characters of text per chapter. Originally, 5,000 characters were requested, but the length did not meet expectations. After efforts to change the prompts and provide additional input, a final length of 3,000 characters was achieved. The Korean output was only about 1,000 characters, so the English version, which had richer data, was used and translated into Korean.
Seo Jin, CEO of Snowfox Books, said, "This project started as an attempt to answer the question, 'Can AI write better than an expert author capable of publishing a book?'" and added, "This is the world's first case where AI took charge of the entire book publishing process."
The total time spent simply writing the text was 30 hours. Two editors reviewed the content, and after printing and processing, the book was published in 7 days. The cover was created by AI, which was given the book title, table of contents, and various themes and stylistic techniques from the original text.
"What is the main cause of the emergence of mama’s boys? The biggest factor is the parenting attitude of the parents. Mothers who reinforce their child's dependency do not give the child opportunities to think and act independently from an early age." This is part of the book content written by AI. In this way, AI draws on existing databases to use content appropriate to specific themes. It boasts an astonishing processing speed when conveying simple concepts or explaining theories. However, issues such as copyright infringement, plagiarism controversies, and the use of misinformation remain challenges to be resolved.
CEO Seo explained, "Since this book was a self-help book, copyright was not particularly necessary. AI extracted its own philosophical knowledge from a vast amount of information," and added, "In cases where copyright verification is needed, AI can be asked for sources or evidence, which can somewhat resolve the issue."
This publication is an important attempt to gauge whether AI writing can replace humans. Regarding this, CEO Seo said, "Although AI took charge of most of the production, human assistance was needed for the final verification," and continued, "A book is not completed simply by writing good content continuously, so ultimately human direction was necessary, and this point was very important. It is better to see AI as a competent team member who helps with basic research."
