Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Holds 10th Anniversary Forum of Seoul PBS
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will hold the "Seoul PBS 10th Anniversary Forum" under the theme "Finding Sustainability through Reflection" at 2:30 PM on the 17th at the Seoul Museum of History.
Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is a comprehensive system for preventing and supporting problem behaviors, including observation, analysis, reinforcement, and guidance by relevant parties to assist students experiencing difficulties in school life.
This forum will review the achievements of PBS, which the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education has pioneered nationwide over the past 10 years, and explore future directions. Discussions will focus on revisiting the core values and philosophy of PBS, expanding it to general education, and improving its quality.
About 150 officials from Seoul and other cities and provinces will attend the forum, which will proceed for 150 minutes in the order of △10-year history and progress report △keynote speech △thematic presentations △comprehensive discussion, and will be broadcast live on the ‘SeoulPBS’ YouTube channel.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education began PBS support in 2012 by selecting seven special education students experiencing behavioral difficulties and working with PBS experts and university student mentors, marking the start of school-level PBS practice over the past decade.
A teacher in charge of PBS work at a special school in Seoul explained, “Approaching and discussing students with behavioral problems is no longer the sole effort of the homeroom teacher but is handled at the level of the entire school system, including school administrators.”
