10% Discount on Card-Type Yeosu Sarang Gift Certificate 'Seomseom Yeosu Pay'

Monthly Limit of 500,000 Won per Person... Until Budget is Exhausted

[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Cheol-hoon] Jeonnam Yeosu City (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) will continue the 10% special discount on Seomseom Yeosu Pay (card-type Yeosu gift certificate), promoted to stimulate local consumption and revitalize the regional economy, this month as well.

Seomseom Yeosu Pay is being issued at 8 billion KRW this year and is currently on sale with a 10% special discount. Once the budget is exhausted, it will automatically switch to a 6% discount sale.

The purchase discount limit per person is 500,000 KRW per month, combining both card-type and paper-type, and the discount is only available for cash payments.

Anyone aged 19 or older can issue and recharge through the smartphone app ‘Local Gift Certificate chak (Chak)’ and 49 designated financial institutions (NongHyup, Saemaeul Geumgo, Gwangju Bank).

Yeosu City started issuing the card-type Yeosu Love Gift Certificate in 2020 in line with consumer trends and has steadily increased the issuance scale.

This year, to secure operational efficiency and transparency of the gift certificates, the city plans to further increase the issuance ratio of card-type gift certificates and actively promote merchant registration to expand the places where the gift certificates can be used.

Additionally, the 5% additional on-site discount for Seomseom Yeosu Pay, implemented since March 2021 for tourists visiting the Yeomun district, will be expanded to Jinnam Shopping Center after April.

Meanwhile, the paper-type Yeosu Love Gift Certificate’s special discount ended early due to the exhaustion of the 12 billion KRW budget, and it is currently being sold with a 6% discount.

A Yeosu City official said, “We hope this will provide practical help to citizens struggling with the economic crisis of high inflation and high interest rates,” adding, “This year, we will work harder to prepare various policies to revitalize Yeosu Love Gift Certificates so that both local small business owners and consumers can benefit.”
