Dankook University Researchers Develop Over 8 Years
Lotte Mart will introduce 'Nokshim Seoritae,' a newly developed domestic variety, for the first time among large marts on the 15th.

On the 14th, Lotte Mart announced that it will introduce ‘Nokshim Seoritae,’ a newly developed domestic variety, on the 15th, marking the first time a large supermarket has launched this product.
Nokshim Seoritae is a new variety developed over approximately eight years by the soybean breeding research team at Dankook University, domestic breeding experts. Compared to the existing common Seoritae variety Cheongja No. 3 sold in large supermarkets, the seeds are about 30% smaller in size and have more than twice the sweetness. The lutein content is more than double, and the anthocyanin content is about three times higher.
This product was created after about seven months of efforts by a grain product planner (MD) who visited farms and partner companies, inspired by the rising retro trend and “halmae ipmat” (grandmother’s taste) trend among the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z) on social media (SNS).

A Lotte Mart official said, “Nokshim Seoritae, a domestic new variety with a savory sweetness and easy-to-eat quality, is expected to be very popular among the 20s and 30s age group. We will continue to discover K-varieties that can capture the tastes of young consumers and strive to promote our agricultural products with diverse flavors and nutrients.”
