Gwangju Seo-gu Council Donates Relief Funds for Turkey and Syria Disaster Recovery
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] The Seo-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City has donated funds to help the people of Turkey and Syria who suffered damage from the great earthquake.
On the morning of the 13th, the Seo-gu Council announced that the members and secretariat staff collectively donated 1,021,000 won to the Gwangju branch of the Korean Red Cross.
The donation will be used for emergency relief supplies, food, shelter support, and other aid for earthquake victims.
Chairperson Ko Kyung-ae said, “We express our deep condolences to the people of Turkey and Syria who suffered great damage from the sudden disaster. We have raised funds through collective contributions to support the recovery efforts,” adding, “We hope that the local victims will not lose hope until the end and can return to a peaceful daily life as soon as possible.”
