Chinese Infectious Disease Expert: "No Nationwide Resurgence Expected Within Months"
An infectious disease expert from the Chinese government stated on the 9th that the likelihood of a nationwide large-scale outbreak recurring in China within the next few months is low.
Wu Zunyou, Chief Epidemiologist at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said at a press conference, "Our country has just experienced a nationwide COVID-19 outbreak," adding, "Most have recovered, and some are still in the process of recovering."
He continued, "Since this is a period when people's immune protection is relatively high nationwide, the possibility of another nationwide COVID-19 outbreak occurring within the next few months is relatively low."
He added, "According to the optimization of our country's epidemic prevention policies (relaxation of measures), COVID-19 may intermittently occur locally or within certain population groups over a certain period, but the likelihood of a concentrated large-scale outbreak nationwide within a short period is relatively low."
In particular, Wu Zunyou said that the possibility of a large-scale outbreak similar to the current one recurring in China is itself relatively low.
