[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Pyeonghwa] LS Cable announced on the 8th that it will hold the '3rd Technology Contest' to secure future growth engines. This contest is being promoted as an open research and development (Open R&D) strategy to quickly acquire technologies useful for business expansion by establishing cooperative relationships with leading domestic universities and research institutions.
The contest fields include ▲underwater construction and protection methods ▲high-voltage direct current transmission (HVDC) ▲next-generation optical fiber technology ▲materials for hydrogen transportation and fuel cells ▲carbon capture, utilization, and storage technology (CCUS) ▲digital twin and virtual product design ▲and other autonomous contest topics. The application period is from the 9th to the 3rd of next month.

LS Cable expects to discover and utilize effective core technologies as well as renewable energy and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) related technologies. An LS Cable official said, "We plan to apply the digital twin technology secured through the first technology contest in 2021 to the production facilities at the Donghae plant this year," adding, "We hope many will participate in the contest to experience the entire process from development to commercialization."
